In another attempt to steal land from American citizens, the Bureau of Land Management is considering taking 90,000 acres from Texas residents.
When Thomas Jefferson purchased the Louisiana Territory in 1803, it established the border between Texas and Louisiana to be the bans of the Red River. Like many other rivers, periodically, the Red River will shift its course due to heavy rains and flooding. As the river shifts, Texas and Louisiana dispute the location of their mutual border.
When the river shifts south, the Texas Farm Bureau recognizes that as the official state border. When the river shifts back north, they insist that the border remain where it was. The dispute over the land has been going on for nearly two hundred years.
To settle the dispute, the BLM is seriously considering confiscating the land for themselves and this has Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott ready to take up arms to protect Texas land. Abbott commented about the issue, saying:
“I am about ready to go to the Red River and raise a ‘Come and Take It’ flag to tell the feds to stay out of Texas.”
He has written a letter to Neil Kornze, Director of the BLM (who is also involved in the scandalous attempt to steal land from Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy). The letter reads in part:
“I am deeply concerned about the notion that the Bureau of Land Management believes the federal government has the authority to swoop in and take land that has been owned and cultivated by Texas landowners for generations,”
“The BLM’s newly asserted claims to land along the Red River threaten to upset long-settled private property rights and undermine fundamental principles — including the rule of law — that form the foundation of our democracy. Yet, the BLM has failed to disclose either its full intentions or the legal justification for its proposed actions. Decisions of this magnitude must not be made inside a bureaucratic black box.”
In a recent interview, Abbott said:
“What Barack Obama’s BLM is doing is so out of bounds and so offensive that we should have quick and successful legal action if they dare attempt to tread on Texas land and take it from private property owners in this state.”
“This is the latest line of attack by the Obama administration, where it seems like they have a complete disregard for the rule of law in this country. And now they’ve crossed the line quite literally by coming into the state of Texas and trying to claim Texas land as federal land. And, as the Attorney General of Texas, I am not going to allow this.”
Abbott is one of my favorite Attorney Generals in the nation because he stands up for his people, laws of Texas and the Constitution. When New York Governor Andrew Cuomo began enacting some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, Abbott ran ads in New York inviting gun owners to move to Texas. He also invited firearm companies to relocate from New York, Connecticut, Maryland and Colorado because Texas proudly upholds the Second Amendment.
He’s not afraid to stand up to the BLM or any other federal agency. He already went after the funding for Planned Parenthood and won, cutting off all state funds from the abortion provider.
Abbott is running for governor of Texas to replace the retiring Rick Perry. His Democratic opponent is Wendy Davis who has lied about her past, her experience with guns and more recently the gender wage gap. If I lived in Texas, not only would I vote for Abbott, I would have signs up in my yard and I would be telling everyone I know to vote for the only candidate who cares more about the people than themselves. In fact, I wouldn’t mind seeing him make a run for the White House in a few years down the road.
