Numerous GOP lawmakers in Michigan are calling for the impeachment of Governor Gretchen Whitmer after she declared another statewide lockdown in response to coronavirus.

On Sunday, Rep. Matt Maddock (R-44th district) responded to the new lockdown orders affecting universities, restaurants, bars and other businesses, announcing Whitmer had “crossed the line” and deserved to be impeached.

In a Facebook post, Maddock also listed various other GOP legislators also getting behind the call for impeachment, while listing a host of Whitmer’s actions he called “impeachable conduct.”

Myself and the following members: Daire Rendon, Beau LaFave, Ryan Berman, Shane Hernandez, John Reilly, incoming legislators Ken Borton Steve Carra Patrick Outman, Senators Dan Lauwers Lana Theis and a growing list of Legislators are calling forthwith for impeachment hearings for Governor Whitmer.

Michigan voters know she has committed the following impeachable conduct:

Ignored court orders.

Violated our Constitutional rights.

Completely ignored due process and the legislature.

Weaponized contract tracing databases to aid democrat campaigns.

Using our kids as political pawns and denied special needs students who depend on the services that occur during in-person classes.

Caused the unnecessary death of thousands of our vulnerable elderly who died alone and scared in nursing homes.

I’ve listed the first things that come to my mind. What did I miss?

The state’s Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey also blasted Whitmer’s new restrictions in a statement Sunday night, saying she’d “chose to go it alone, again,” rather than cooperate with Republicans.

House Speaker Lee Chatfield (R) said, “The people of Michigan deserve a seat at the table when major decisions like these are made, and those decisions are made better and safer when they do.”

On Sunday, Whitmer announced a new 3-week lockdown that would “temporarily halt in-person instruction at high schools and colleges, dine-in service at restaurants and bars, and high school athletics as well as close some businesses, including movie theaters, bowling alleys and casinos,” according to the Detroit News.
